Cryoflux - AW11 Collection with Ada Zanditon

The A/W 2011-2012 collection with Ada Zanditon was inspired by Antarctica, celebrated the extremity of the ice-world and its unique nature and wild life. The collection faced the environmental perils of the modern world and climate change with its sharp futuristic look.
My jewellery represented cracked, floating ice and melting cliffs drifting on the sea.

The Chandelier Collection

I have built a functional chandelier which can be taken apart. Each part is separately wearable on the body as an accessory. My work is an expression of multiple art forms and shows how boundaries can be blurred between creative disciplines. It also represents our relationship to the objects what we make and surround ourselves with. Fashion transformed to the trend of today. We acquire new items, but get rid of them immediately when something newer comes around. Just like how we change clothes.

Singing Angels

I designed this jewellery before Christmas in a melancholic wintery mood, what made them a bit gothic. I was also inspired by one of my favourite paintings The Singing Angels from Jan van Eyck. I picked three figures from his composition and transferred them to my jewellery. This model is made of two pieces. The leather part and the ring can be worn separately or together. It looks unusual, but still comfortable.

You can find them at Swanfield Pop-up Boutique in London!

Illustration from Abigail Daker

Artist Abigail Daker caught the moment of the LWF SS11 presentation when a model was wearing two of the smaller necklaces. It is a kindly different experience for me than seeing photos from the same event.

Another collaboration of Luca Romanyi and Ada Zanditon

I collaborated with Ada Zanditon creating a new set of jewellery pieces for Ada’s SS11 The Pyramora collection.
This set of jewellery is from purpose made ceramic tiles, leather, Swarowski crystals and gold plated chains.

Memory Bracelets

I lived in a tall building with great city view in Tokyo. The panorama at night was even more beautiful. I painted this night-view on a canvas and cut it into thirty-three slices. Thirty-three bracelets were made for my local friends before leaving Tokyo. I hope I can see my whole painting again one day.

See the bracelets here!

Earthquake

I experienced three tremors while staying in Japan. Luckily none of them were big, they just knocked my dishes.

I created two neckpieces later in the memory of the porcelain items destroyed by devastating earthquakes. To make them I smashed two soup bowls and torn table napkins. I tried reassembling the items form the rubble using wire and silicone. The result was chaotic and dramatic, just like the result of a large earthquake.

City Life

You should be flexible living in a metropolis.

These pieces were inspired by the city of Tokyo. Tiny but modern living spaces. Everyday rush. The feeling that you’re always seen and therefore you should not make the mistakes that you always do. People cannot be perfect.
The foam-figures are the typical salarymen of Japan. This is my small revenge on them for being squeezed on the packed underground every morning. Now I squeeze them into my jewellery!

Sandwich Shoes

These works were follow-ups to the Human Footprint project. The shoes can be disassembled and reassembled easily. Their height and their materials are both alterable. I have designed three alternatives. Looking at them from the side the dark patches recall the silhouette of iconic platform shoes. The possibilities are endless.

Portable Home

A team of three of us was randomly put together at university to work as a team on a project. All three of us are living as foreigners in London and moved many times in our lives. We created a portable home which is also an outfit and it transforms from on to the other. The piece was inspired by Critical Design.
The team was Franziska Lusser (Germany), Hanna Nielsen (Sweden) and myself, Luca Romanyi (Hungary).

Encased Project - Human Footprint

A pair of multi-layered shoes were designed as part of a university project, “Encased”. The shoes encase the natural layers of earth; stone, soil and vegetation. These are covered by rubbish with the human standing on the top, separated from nature by her own waste.

Second Collaboration With Ada Zanditon - AW10/11

Luca Romanyi and Ada Zanditon have created a new collection of jewellery supporting Ada’s “Echolocation” themed 2010/2011 Autumn/Winter fashion collection which raises attention to the threatened species of bats.
Shape of jewellery pieces have been inspired by the naked branches of the trees during the winter. They are made of Ecoresin.

Transformation

I was investigating human nature and basic instincts. I believe everybody has similarities with animals. The way they look or act in different situations.

My jewellery represents busy women who carry a lot on their shoulders. It could be worn different ways and most of the time it hides the real meaning. It can be obvious occasionally. It is changing like women’s mood. Sometimes they complain about everything and sometimes they are happy to be busy.
